Sync with Desktop Version of Accordance

Watch this podcast which shows how easy it is to sync your Mac version of Accordance and mobile device.

Prerequisites: Desktop version of Accordance 9.3 or higher, installed on Mac OS 10.4.9 and above, and version 1.2 or higher of Accordance Mobile.

Note: The Accordance Help also provides full details for this procedure.

Syncing is performed over a WiFi network, and is a procedure completely separate from syncing to iTunes®.

Except for user content, syncing is one way only: modules cannot be backed up or restored from your device to your Mac.

Warning: Accordance content is licensed for one user. It is illegal to allow other users to load your modules on their computers or mobile devices.

To protect the rights of the copyright owners of the content, the following protections are in place:

The user of Accordance must be
   the Accordance admin.

If a device is synced to a
   different computer all the
   previous content is deleted
   prior to the sync, unless
   the user selects syncing
   only of user notes.

Sync modules from the Mac Desktop Version of Accordance to Your Mobile Device
  1. In Library View (bottom center), tap the Sync button (). The rest of this procedure is performed in your desktop version of Accordance.
  2. On the Accordance menu, choose Sync with Mobile Device. The Sync with Mobile Device dialog box opens.
  3. In the Sync with Mobile Device dialog box, select the device to which the Accordance modules should be synced and click Connect. The Sync with Mobile Device dialog box is updated and displays all modules on your computer that can be synced to the mobile device.
  4. See Troubleshooting if you do not see your device on the network.
  5. The first time you sync to a mobile device a message appears advising that the content is for your use only, and that making the content available to anyone else is a copyright infringement. You must read the message and select the correct option in order to continue.
  6. If your mobile device was synced with another computer a message appears offering three choices, as follows:
Cancel: Cancels syncing between the mobile device and your computer.
Erase and Sync: Erases the content of the Accordance Library on your mobile device and replaces it with the content from your desktop version of Accordance.
Sync User Content: Preserves all content on your mobile device and syncs only with User content (User Notes, User Tools, and Highlight files).
  7. A list appears with all the modules installed in Accordance, in their categories. Within each category those currently in Accordance Mobile are checked and appear at the top. The dialog box also shows how much free space is available on the mobile device.
  8. In the list, select the modules to be synced to your mobile device.
  9. Check any modules you wish to add, and uncheck any you wish to remove from your device. Clicking the category will check or uncheck all modules in that category.

Unchecking the category and proceeding to sync removes any modules in that category from your mobile device.

  10. Click the Sync button and wait for syncing to complete.

The new modules are added to each category list, in the order they appear on the desktop version of Accordance. Any modules with newer versions on your desktop version are updated on your device.

Syncing User Notes

Your User Notes can be synced in both directions. If they are checked in the list, Accordance automatically applies the changes made to each individual note, whether on the desktop version or the mobile device, to the other set of notes. If the same note has been modified in both sets of notes, a dialog box displays both notes and allows you to select the one you want to keep.

Syncing User Tools and Highlights

User Tools and Highlights files can ONLY be synced between Accordance 9.4+ and version 1.3+ of Accordance Mobile.
