Tool Search: Commentary

Goal: To find Moses and Aaron close together in a commentary on Numbers.

Setup

  1. Open a commentary of your choice from the Tools area of the Library ().
  2. Set the field pop-up menu to Contents or English Content.
  3. Press Enter twice to select the contents of the Search Entry box. Delete the contents, if any.

Set up the Search

  1. Enter the word Moses.
  2. On the Search menu, choose Enter Command>WITHIN, or use the keyboard shortcut Shift+Ctrl+W.

The entry section should now look like this:

  1. Enter 5 in place of the question mark.
  2. Click to the right of the > and type Aaron.

    The Search Entry box should appear as shown below:

You have defined a search for Moses within 5 words of Aaron.

Limit the Search

  1. In the Search Entry box, click the Search Options pop-up menu (View History button in the Search Entry box) and make sure that Exact Search and Article are selected. If not, select them.

    The pop-up menu should appear as shown below:

  2. Click Add Field (Click to display additional options in the Search Entry area, far right of the Search Entry box).
  3. Leave the first new pop-up menu set to AND, and change the new field pop-up menu to Entry or Reference (the first field).
  4. Enter num in the Search Entry box.

    The Search Entry box should now appear as shown below:
