Preferences: User Files

Prerequisites for use: None; this dialog box can be opened at any time.              

Use: Used to set the default display of new Edit windows for User Notes or User Tools and the default display of new User Notes tabs.

Open: Click User Files in the list of the Preferences dialog box. The User Files area is displayed.

Note Options in the All Edit Windowsarea applies to all new Edit windows opened for any User Tool or User Note file. These defaults help give a uniform appearance when editing your User Notes and Tools, but do not change the display of notes which have already been saved, nor do they override the User Notes Display settings.

All Edit Windows Area: Used to specify a font and its size for text in all Edit windows.

• Font Pop-up Menu: Choose from fonts available on your system.
• Size Pop-up Menu: Choose the font size.
• Use "smart" quotation marks: When selected, smart quotes automatically replace plain quotation marks. Deselect this item to use plain quotation marks.
  

User Notes Area: Options in this area control opening of the Edit window.

• Automatically update notes after editing: If selected, clicking the close button in the User Note edit window, or pressing Ctrl+W, will automatically save the contents of the User Note.

• Reopen last Notes file: If selected, and you have more than one User Notes file, a dialog box appears the first time you add a User Note. Accordance then remembers this selection until you exit the program. You can quickly change the User Notes file by right-clicking in the right margin on the note icon () and selecting the desired User Notes file from the list that appears. In this case, that selection is remembered as the most recent one.

  If this item is not selected, and you have more than one User Notes file, a dialog box appears every time you add a User Note, asking you to chose the file to which a User Note will be added.

• Allow multiple notes Edit windows: If selected, opens a new Edit window for each verse unless a tab for that verse is already open. If unselected, only one Edit window is opened for each set of Notes, and it is recycled when you attempt to edit another verse.
• Open Parallel Pane when Editing: If selected, the User Note file being edited also opens in a parallel pane. If unselected, editing a User Note does not open the file itself in a parallel pane.
• Hide Add User Note Pencil: If selected, the Add User Note Pencil icon does not appear in the right margin of the Text for adding a User Note. If unselected, the Pencil icon appears in the right margin of the Text when the cursor hovers over the mouse; you can click the icon to add a user note to the verse.
• Upgrade User Notes: This button appears only if you have User Notes files that are in the old format (pre-V11). Click Upgrade User Notes to convert all your User Notes Files to take advantage of the full User Notes features in Version 11. The User Notes files are changed from *.acc4 to *.amynotes.
