Insert Verses to Another Application

You can easily copy and paste any verse or set of verses from Accordance to another program on your computer using the "Get Verses" feature. Accordance must be running for this feature to work.

If desired, the Get Verses feature can be disabled via the Preferences (Export area). You can also enter a verse from Accordance directly into another word processing program, if enabled via the Preferences.

All these procedures are detailed below.

Use the Get Verses FeatureUse the Get Verses Feature

  1. Open Accordance Bible Software.
  2. Press Ctrl+Alt+A. The Get Verses dialog box appears.

  3. Proceed as follows in the Get Verses dialog box:
  4. From the Text pop-up menu, choose the Text version you want to copy verses from. You can choose any installed corpusClosed Collection of writings/language.

    You can also press Ctrl+1 through 9 to scroll through and select your top 9 Texts, or press Ctrl++ or - to scroll through all your Texts

  5. In the Reference box, enter the verse reference using standard Accordance abbreviations.
  6. If desired, select one of the following:
  7. Use Citation Format: When selected, the Citation format as entered in the Citation area of the Preferences dialog box is used. If not selected, the verses are copied with one verse on each new line.
  8. Match formatting during insert: When selected, the verses are pasted into your document based on its formatting. When not selected, the formatting of the verses in the Text is used.
  9. Do one of the following:
  10. Click Copy to Clipboard to copy the verses to the clipboard and manually paste them into another application.
  11. Click Insert in XXX, where XXX is an open program detected by Accordance, to have the verses copied to the clipboard and pasted directly into the open document for the detected program.

    In both cases the verses are copied to the computer clipboard and can be copied manually or automatically to another program.

  1. Open the Preferences dialog box and go to the Export area.
  2. In the Get Verses area of the Preferences dialog box, select Use selected verse reference from word processor..
  3. With Accordance Bible Software open in the background, go to the other word processing program on your computer.
  4. Type a verse reference (for example, Gen 1:1) and select it.
  5. Press Ctrl+Alt+A. The Get Verses dialog box appears.
  6. In the Get Verses dialog box click Insert in XXX (where xxx is the name of the word processing program).

Disable the Get Verses FeatureDisable the Get Verses Feature

In some cases, you may want to disable the Get Verses feature. This might be necessary, for example, if the shortcut keys conflict with another function in your application. To do so:

  1. Open the Preferences dialog box and go to the Export area.
  2. In the Get Verses area of the Preferences dialog box, select Disable Get Verses. The Ctrl+Alt+A shortcut key combination no longer inserts a verse from Accordance.
