Greek and Hebrew Export Options

When Greek or Hebrew text is exported from Accordance, whether by copying, dragging, or saving as text, the end-result depends on certain default settings or preferences. You can specify the appearance of exported text for these original languages in the Export area of the Preferences dialog box.

The following settings are particularly important:

• Unicode Export area: This option offers cross-platform compatibility and true right to left in Hebrew. It is the recommended method for exporting original languages.
  
  To export to convert a file to another format for use in another application. Greek or Hebrew as transliterated Unicode, select Export all characters with Unicode format.
• Export Characters As area: You can choose to keep the original fonts (Helena for Greek; Yehudit for Hebrew). However, these fonts must be available to the word processor. If necessary use the FontFixer Utility to add Accordance fonts to your Mac.
• Note that Yehudit is not a true right-to-left font.
• The Transliteration and English options are for exporting original language text as a transliteration in either the Rosetta font (Transliteration) or default English font (English). These options work when saving a large selection as an RTF file. The Unicode item must NOT be selected in this case.

Note When copying and pasting text, these options are applied to the clipboard only when you leave Accordance. However, if you drag and drop text between windows, even within Accordance, these options (except for Unicode) are applied to the text in the new location.

The Unicode Display area of the Preferences dialog box is used to override the font and style setting when exporting Unicode original language Text. You can have a different setting for each of the following original languages: Greek, Hebrew, Syriac, Arabic, and Coptic/Uncial.
