Get Verses Dialog Box

Prerequisites for use: Accordance Bible Software must be running on your computer. In addition, you must have also enabled Accordance in the Accessibility Mac preferences.

Use: The Get Verses dialog box is used to enter a Scripture reference for any installed Text moduleClosed Any Bible text, or other single tool that can be read in Accordance, including reference texts and articles; may also be referred to as content or resource, and to insert those verses in another program on your computer.

Description: The dialog box has two main areas. The top area is used to select the specific Text you are copying from and to enter the verse reference. The bottom button(s) allow you to copy the verses only to the Clipboard or to an open program (if detected) that can receive the copied Text.

  1. If you have not done so, open the Mac preferences and enable Accordance in the Accessibility Security preferences.
  2. Open Accordance Bible Software.
  3. Press Opt++A.
  4. From the Text pop-up menu, choose the Text version you want to copy verses from.
    You can also press +1 through 9 to scroll through and select your top 9 Texts, or press ++ or - to scroll through all your Texts.
  5. In the empty box, enter the verse reference.
  6. If desired, select one of the following:
  7. Use Citation Format: When selected, the Citation format as entered in the Citation area of the Preferences dialog box is used. If not selected, the verses are copied with one verse on each new line.
  8. Match formatting during insert: When selected, the verses are pasted into your document based on its formatting. When not selected, the formatting of the verses in the Text is used.
  9. Do one of the following:
  10. Click Copy to Clipboard to copy the verses to the clipboard and manually paste them into another application.
  11. Click Insert in XXX, where XXX is an open program detected by Accordance, to have the verses copied to the clipboard and pasted directly into the open document for the detected program.

Text Pop-up Menu: Lists all installed Text modulesClosed Any Bible text, or other single tool that can be read in Accordance, including reference texts and articles; may also be referred to as content or resource from which you can copy a verse or range of verses.

Reference Box: Used to enter the verse reference that you want to copy. You can enter any standard Accordance notation for verses.

Use Citation Format: When selected, the text is displayed and copied in the citation format set via the Preferences dialog box. If not selected, the verses are copied, each one as a separate paragraph preceded by a reference.

Match formatting during insert: When selected, the verses are pasted into your document based on its formatting. When not selected, the formatting of the verses in the Text is used.

Copy to Clipboard: Copies the desired verses to your system clipboard. You can then paste the verses into another program manually.

Insert in XXX: Copies the verses to your system clipboard and then pastes them directly into the program that Accordance has detected, which can receive the copied verses.
