Some of the items in this menu change, depending on the active The application, window, tab, or other screen element which is currently being used; sometimes called the "front" or "frontmost" screen element item.

Enter Key Numbers (keyed Bible text only): Opens the Select Key Number dialog box; used to select a key number and place it in the Search Entry box Enter Lexical Forms (grammatically tagged texts only): Opens the Lexical Forms dialog box; used to select a lexical form The canonical (dictionary) form of a word and place it in the Search Entry box Enter Root Forms (grammatically tagged texts, when pressing option): Opens the Root Forms dialog box; used to select a root A root is a unit of a language that cannot be further divided, from which words are derived by modification. The root does not necessarily survive as a word in itself. The Accordance roots may combine homographs and therefore a single root may include roots with different etymologies and meanings. In Hebrew, by convention, the lexical form (lemma) of a verb is the same as the root. form and place it in the Search Entry box |

Enter Command |
Opens a submenu of commands that can be entered, with the appropriate brackets, in the Search Entry box; the following commands are available:
Connecting Commands AND: Both expressions connected by an AND must be present in the search field OR: One (or both) of the expressions connected by an OR must be present in the search field NOT: If NOT connects two expressions, the following expression cannot appear in the search field. If NOT is adjacent to another command, it negates the command XOR: One but not both of the expressions connected by an XOR must be present in the search field FOLLOWED BY: The expressions must occur in the specified order in the search field PRECEDED BY: The expressions must occur in the reverse order in the search field WITHIN: Places <WITHIN ? WORDS> in the Search Entry box. This command specifies the number of words within which the expressions must be found Connecting Commands LINK: Places [LINK tabname] in the Search Entry box, and allows you to choose link to the search argument CONTENTS: Places [CONTENTS tabname] in the Search Entry box, and allows you to search the tab content HITS: Places [HITS tabname] in the Search Entry box, and allows you to use the list of hits INFER: Places [INFER 6 tabname] in the Search Entry box, and allows you to select the source of allusions or inferences in the current text FUZZY: Places [FUZZY 1] in the Search Entry box, and lets you find phrases that are similar but not identical. MERGE: Places [MERGE tabname] in the Search Entry box, and allows you to merge the results RANGE: Places [RANGE ?] in the Search Entry box, and lets you enter verse references or a range name for a temporary range COUNT: Places [COUNT ?] in the Search Entry box, and lets you enter a numerical range KEY: Places [KEY ?] in the Search Entry box, and lets you enter a Key number to search STYLE: Places [STYLE ?] in the Search Entry box, and lets you enter a color highlight style to search FIELD: Places [FIELD END] or [FIELD BEGIN] in the Search Entry box. A dialog box appears, which allows you to select either BEGIN or END. This expression represents the beginning or end of your search field |
Commands which include "tabname" will either automatically enter the name of the only suitable tab, or if necessary open a dialog box listing available open tabs. Commands which enter a ? also highlight the mark so you can replace it with the appropriate entry.

Opens a submenu of symbols that can be inserted in the Search Entry box. The available options are accompanied with a brief description of their usage in the menu. Available options are: ( Begin grouping: Used to begin group expressions ( End grouping: Used to end group expressions * Wild card: Global wild card for any word or reference ? Character wild card: Stands for any single character , Separate items in list: Separates references or alternate words inside brackets — Range or negate: Indicates a range or a negative (option hyphen can also be used for a range) ' (or ") Inflected word: Used to enclose inflected forms @ Join tag to word: Used to link words with Key numbers, or tag information, lexical, root, and inflected forms, HITS or COUNT = Exact form: Specifies the exact form of the word + Root form: Indicates a root form of the word . Find next character: Searches for the single character immediately following the period ; Separate chapter: Divides groups of references : Verse after chapter: Separates chapter and verse (a period is also allowed) f following verses: Adds one of the last unit (for example, Gen 2:4f includes verse 5, Gen 2f includes chapter 3, and Gen f includes the next book, Exodus) ff following verses: Extends the reference to the end of the last unit (last verse, chapter, or book) |
