Set Notes Display for "XXX" Dialog Box

Use: The Set Notes Display for "XXX" dialog box is used to control several aspects of the User Notes displayed in the activeClosed The application, window, tab, or other screen element which is currently being used; sometimes called the "front" or "frontmost" screen element pane. You can also set the defaults for that User Notes file in all new panes or tabs.

Description: The label of this dialog box is dynamic and changes based on the name of the User Notes file displayed in the active pane/tab. In addition, clicking the Customize Theme button displays additional items. You can have a different setting for each installed User Note moduleClosed Any Bible text, or other single tool that can be read in Accordance, including reference texts and articles; may also be referred to as content or resource. Changes affect only the active User Notes pane. If you want your changes applied to the User Notes file the next time it is opened, click Use as Default.

Note

Default display for all User Notes files is set in the User Notes Display area of the Preferences dialog box.

 

Hint

If you have one User Notes file in which you want a different appearance than the default settings made here, do the following:

  1. Make the desired changes to affect ALL User Notes files in the User Notes Display area of the Preferences dialog box, and save your changes.
  2. Open the desired User Notes file in a separate pane or tab.
  3. Open this Set Notes Display for XXX dialog box (where XXX is the file to be changed) and make the desired settings for that file.
  4. At the bottom of the Set Notes Display dialog box, click Use as Default. This file now has different defaults from those set here in the Preferences dialog box.

  1. Place the cursor in any active User Notes pane.
  2. Do one of the following:
  3. On the Display menu, choose Set Notes Display.
  4. Press Ctrl+T .
  5. Right-click and choose Set Notes Display.

Theme Area: Items here relate to the selected Theme and how it is displayed for all Tool modulesClosed Any Bible text, or other single tool that can be read in Accordance, including reference texts and articles; may also be referred to as content or resource.

  • Theme Pop-up Menu: Opens a list of pre-defined Themes that can be applied globally to all User Notes files. The theme is previewed in the bottom preview pane.
  • Customize Theme/Hide Customization Button: Displays additional items on the right side of the dialog box, for further customizing the Theme applied to the module.
  • Standardize text display: Select this item to have your changes applied to ALL User Notes files. When selected, all items in the Text display area on the right can be set; changing these items affects all notes in all User Notes files and overrides any previously applied formatting.
  • Size Pop-up Menu: This item sets the default font size for User Notes theme.

    In addition, if Standardize text display is selected, your selection here is applied to all notes in this User Notes file. This is also the value that is adjusted with using the font size buttons on the Panes bar (Click to change font size).

    If Standardize text display is not selected, this item represents the relative scaling for the selected font sizes.

  • Line Spacing Slider: Move the slider to add space between text lines and improve readability. The text displays and prints with the line spacing set here.

Hypertext Area: Changes here affect how links are displayed and handled in this User Notes file.

  • Text Pop-up Menu: Choose the Bible text used to open a Scripture reference link, or view the text in the Instant Details when a cursor is over a reference. You can choose from any installed text.
  • Alternate Text Pop-up Menu: Choose the Bible text to use if the verse is not found in the first text.

Text Display Area: Items in this section are available only if Standardize text display is selected and relate to the format of the notes. These items affect all notes in the active User Notes file.

  • Contents items (Font and Color): Choose from any font available on your system (unless the text is Greek or Hebrew), along with a range of colors.
  • Hypertext items (Color and Style): Changes here affect how links are displayed and handled in each user note.

Search highlighting area: Options in this area are used to choose how "hit" words are displayed in the text.

  • Color Pop-up Menu: Used to choose from a wide selection of colors, or creating a custom color.
  • Choose Custom Color: Opens the standard Windows dialog box which offers many ways for defining a color.
  • Custom: Selects the currently defined custom color.
  • Style Pop-up Menu: Used to set the style of "hit" words. The word "Sample" displayed next to the option displays the currently selected style. To remove a style, select it again from the menu, or select Plain Text to remove all styles. Available styles are: Bold, Italic, Underline, Outline, Shadow, and Plain Text.

Background area: Options in this area set parameters for display of the entire tool content.

  • Color Pop-up Menu: Used to set the background color of the pane. A variety of colors including pastels and black are offered. You can also set a custom color.

Use as Default button: After making changes, click this button to have these settings applied to this User Notes file the next time it is opened. If you do not click this button, the next time you open this User Notes file, the default settings (set in the Preferences dialog box) take precedence.
