The Search Results Area

The Search Results area is the part of the Search tabClosed The core tab used to search Bible texts, it consists of a search entry area and a search results area where the Bible text is displayed. Only verses that meet the criteria and options entered in the Search Entry area are displayed.

The Search Results area has four main parts, as detailed below.

The Hit Options bar displays information about your search and provides options that apply to the entire area of the text pane(s):

  • The number of "hits" found by the current search criteria is shown as large numerals on the center of the bar. This number disappears when the search is for verses.
  • Context Slider: Slide the context slider to choose how many verses of the context to display with the search results. You can choose from no context (0), 1 to 9 verses of context, or all context (A). The number on the context slider reflects how much context is displayed. You can change the default Context settings via the Preferences dialog box (Search Tab area).
  • Verse 1 of 43 indicates the verse visible at the top of the text pane, and the total number of verses displayed.
    • The first number changes as you scroll through the search results.
    • The second number changes when you perform a new search that finds a different number of verses, or when more context verses are added to the hit verses.
  • Compare: Select this item to compare the differences between the first two texts, or multiple texts, of each language displayed in the panes of a Search tab. This item is dimmed if the panes cannot be compared. Use the Compare drop-down menu to set common preferences when comparing text.
Items available are the same as those in the Compare and Type drop-down menus in the Preferences dialog box (Compare Text area).
