Organize Library Items

Items in the Library can be reorganized in a variety of ways, to best meet your own work habits. Changes also reflected in the Add Pane and toolbar pop-up menus.

There are several ways an item can be selected in the Library pane. Once selected, you can move the item to a new location within a specific category, or to the My Groups category. You can create folders for subcategories, alphabetize items, and more. Click one of the sections below for more details on that particular task.

With regard to the instructions below, right-click a library item to open a shortcut menuClosed Also known as a contextual menu, acessed by right-clicking (or pressing Ctrl+Click, Mac only) over a screen element. You can select the same options listed in the Add Items and Action Items pop-up menus from there. Your changes are saved immediately.

  • Click an item in the Library pane, to select it.
  • Press or to select the item above or below the initially selected item.

Automatically Organize ToolsAutomatically Organize Tools

If desired, all Tools can be automatically organized into pre-defined Categories. This is particularly useful when you have literally dozens to hundreds of resources to work with. Once organized, you can then further refine the organization by moving, renaming, and even deleting unneeded categories, and moving any Tool (except Parallels) to other categories. This procedure can be repeated as desired.

  1. Open the Preferences dialog box and go to the Appearance area.
  2. Click Organize all Tools by Category. All Tool modulesClosed Any Bible text, or other single tool that can be read in Accordance, including reference texts and articles; may also be referred to as content or resource are automatically assigned to pre-defined categories.

Any existing folders and dividers are deleted when the Tools are automatically organized. If you still want those folders, you can add them again, as desired.

The Parallels modules cannot be moved from the Parallels category and that category cannot be renamed or deleted.

Move an ItemMove an Item

Click drag-and-drop the item to a new location within the same category, or to the My Groups category. The new location is indicated by a line under the item.

Click an item in the Library and drag it to the desired new location in a sub-category or category

Open or Close a Category or FolderOpen or Close a Category or Folder

  1. Select the desired category or Folder.
  2. Do one of the following:
  3. Click the open/close arrow to open or close the category or folder.
  4. To close the category or folder, move the cursor next to an open folder or category until the cursor changes to an X. Click to close the folder or category.

  1. Click a Category, or a module in a category.
  2. Do one of the following:
  3. Press Shift+Ctrl+A.
  4. Click Action () and choose Alphabetize from the pop-up menu that appears.

    The modules in the category are rearranged in alphabetical order.

Rename Sub-Categories, Folders, User Content, and My WorkspacesRename Sub-Categories, Folders, User Content, and My Workspaces

You can rename sub-categories, folders, User modules and saved Workspaces.

  1. Select the item you want to rename.
  2. Do one of the following:
  3. Press Enter and type the new name.
  4. Right-click, choose Rename from the Library shortcut menu, enter the new name and then Press Enter.

    The item is displayed with its new name. It is also physically renamed on your hard drive.

Remove an ItemRemove an Item

  1. Select the desired item (module, folder, or divider).
  2. Do one of the following:
  3. Right-click and select Remove Item.
  4. Press Ctrl+Backspace.
  5. Click Action () and choose Remove Item from the pop-up menu that appears.

    A message box appears asking if you want to keep the file for the removed item or move it to the trash.

  6. If you keep the file in the Accordance folder, you can restore the deleted module to the Library.
