Select Lexical Forms Dialog Box

Prerequisite to opening: Cursor is in the Search Entry box of a Search Tab for grammatically tagged text, with search set to Words.

To open the Select Lexical Forms dialog box, do one of the following:

• In the Search Entry box, right-click and choose Enter>Lemma from the shortcut menu Also known as a contextual menu, acessed by right-clicking (or pressing Ctrl+Click, Mac only) over a screen element.
• On the Search menu, choose Enter Lexical Forms.
• Press +L.
• Drag a LEX item into a Construct tab.

• Left panel with an alphabetical list: Displays the lexical forms for every word in the search text. In addition to the lexical forms, a matching English gloss Short definition of a word giving the usual meaning of each form is shown. Three dots (...) at the end of a definition indicates the gloss is too long to be shown in the list. In Hebrew, homograph numbers have been assigned to some lemmas to distinguish Aramaic words (_0) and other words with the same form but distinct meanings.
• Use the scroller The control you drag in the scroll bar and arrows to scroll through the list.
• Click a word to add it to the Words to enter box.
• Double-click a word to add the word to the Search Entry box and close the Select Lexical Forms dialog box.
• For multiple words, double-click the last selected word to add all selected words to the Search Entry box and close the Select Lexical Forms dialog box.
• Text Pop-up Menu: Used to change the list to the words from another text of this language. Changing the word list does not change the current search text setting in the tab.
• Go To box: Used for entering characters to scroll the list to the closest word.
• If you use the Go to box to locate the words in the list, the box is cleared after each word is chosen, ready for your next entry.
• Example: Typing ag in the Go to box scrolls the list to Agee in Hebrew and Agabus in Greek.
• Words to enter box: Displays all words selected from the list. You can edit the words directly in this box.
• Use exact lemma The canonical (dictionary) form of a word: When selected, places an equal sign before each word in the Search Entry box to constrain the search to the exact form selected.
• For Greek this includes capitalization, ending forms, accents, and breathing marks.
• For Hebrew this includes the vowels, ending forms, and homograph numbers.
• If this option is not selected, only the letters forming the words appear in the Search Entry box.
• OK: Enters the selected lexical forms in the Search Entry box (at the insertion point), or inserts the construct item.
  
  If multiple words are selected, they are added to the Search Entry box in parentheses and separated by commas as alternate search criteria. In this case, the search criteria is met if it contains any of these words.
