Search Options
The Search Options are used to limit your search. How they are accessed is based on your device.
Access Search Options on iPhone/iPod touch
- On the top right of the Main View, tap Search ().
- On the far right, tap More. A new bar appears with three additional commands: Tags, Commands, and Options.
- Tap Options. A pop-up menu appears displaying all available Search Options for the Main View.
- Available items vary depending on the type of module being searched.
- Once accessed, by default these items remain displayed unless you tab Less.
Access Search Options on iPad
- On the top right of the Main View, tap Search ().
- On the far right, beneath the Search Entry box, tap Options. A pop-up menu appears displaying all available Search Options for the Main View. Available items vary depending on the type of module being searched.
Search Options for Text Modules
- Flex Search: The default setting is usually Flex (on), but can be changed via the Settings View. Tap to turn Flex Search on or off and override the default setting.
- Search Within Every: Available options are Verse, Chapter, Clause, Sentence, Paragraph, and Book. Your selection limits the context for searches using commands such as AND or NOT. The default setting is Verse. For example, a search for Adam <AND> Eve finds both in the same verse.
- Set Range To: Displays a list of predefined sets of books of the Bible as well as the default [All Text]. Additional search ranges can be created.
- Set Context To: Determines the number of verses displayed before and after each hit verse to show the immediate context. Select All to highlight the results in the entire text, and use the Up and Down arrows to go to the next search hit. The default setting is None. This can be changed via the Settings View.

Tap Reset Search Options to restore the default settings.
These settings remain in effect as long as you are viewing and searching the same Text.
Search Options for Tool Modules
- Flex Search: The default setting is usually Flex (on), but can be changed via the Settings View. Tap to turn Flex Search on or off and override the default setting.
- Show: The item selected determines how the results are displayed. Available items are:
- All Text: Displays the results within the entire content of the module.
- Articles: Displays entire articles containing search results.
- Paragraphs: Displays the results only at the paragraph level.
- Add Titles: Displays the results at the paragraph level together with the preceding Title or Entry.

These settings remain in effect as long as you are viewing and searching the same Tool.
