Create a User Tool File

You can create a new User Tools using the File menu, the User Tools icon on the Toolbar or importing text from another file.

All new User Tools created in Accordance 14 are unicode, but they are not backward compatible.

From The File Menu
  1. On the File menu, choose User Files>New User Tool File. The Enter New User Tool File Name dialog box appears.
  2. Enter a name for your User Tool file, select the type, and click OK. The file is saved and opened in a new User Tool tab.
  3. The new User Tool file is saved in one of the following folders on your computer:
  4. Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\[user name]\My Documents\Accordance Files
  5. Vista, Windows 7, and above: C:\Users\[user name]\My Documents\Accordance Files

Caution

If you add an existing User Tool file to Accordance, the file is copied to the User Tools folder, and any changes you make are saved on that copy (and not to the file you originally opened). This might happen, for example, when working with User Tools downloaded from Accordance Exchange or sent to you from another Accordance user.

  1. To edit the User Tool, click inside the User Tool pane and press the space bar (or any other key). The User Tool Edit window opens.

To back up your User Tools, or copy them to another computer, be sure to find the folder containing your latest edited versions.
