Check for Content Updates

Accordance Bible Software lets you download and install updates. You can:

Check for Content Updates only looks for and installs updated modulesClosed Any Bible text, or other single tool that can be read in Accordance, including reference texts and articles; may also be referred to as content or resource.

Check for and Install Free UpdatesCheck for and Install Free Updates

  1. On the Accordance menu, choose Check for Content Updates. The Check for Updates dialog box opens..
  2. You can also click Updates in the Easy Install dialog box.
  3. A message appears with a progress bar, while Accordance automatically checks for available updates.
  4. When Accordance finishes searching for updates, a list of available upgrades is displayed in the Check for Updates dialog box.
  5. The type of updates listed depends on the activeClosed The application, window, tab, or other screen element which is currently being used; sometimes called the "front" or "frontmost" screen element button (Free or Paid). When this dialog box opens, the active button is the one last used.
  6. If necessary, click Cancel in the message to stop the check and switch to Free, then click Refresh. Available upgrades are displayed in the List of Upgrades.
  7. Each downloadable update is listed with its file size.
  8. List items can be sorted by clicking on the header row for that item.
  9. Click a module to view information about it (displayed at the bottom of the Check for Updates dialog box).
  10. Click the link under "Click for details:" to open the web page for that module.
  11. Search for any part of the name of a module by entering text in the Search field.
  12. Select the items you want to update.

    By default, all available updates are selected. If you do not want to download all items at once, press Shift and click on one of the items to deselect all items. You can then select only those items you want to download.

  13. Click Download in the Check for Updates dialog box. Once the updates are downloaded, a message appears asking if you want to install the updates.
  14. Click Install in the message to install the updates.

    Accordance workspaces may close and reopen as the modules are installed.

Automatically Check for Content Updates Automatically Check for Content Updates

  1. On the Accordance menu, choose Check for Content Updates. The Check for Updates dialog box opens.
  2. Select Automatically check for updates in the Check for Updates dialog box. The Check for Updates pop-up menu is undimmed.
  3. From the action menu (Action pop-up menu: Provides additional options ), Choose Daily, Weekly, or Monthly or No Automatic Check.
  4. The check is invisible unless downloadable updates are located.
  5. If updates are found, the Check for Updates dialog box appears. Proceed from #3, above.

Check for Paid UpdatesCheck for Paid Updates

In some cases, a module update may be available, but requires an additional fee before it can be downloaded and installed.

  1. On the Accordance menu, choose Check for Content Updates. The Check for Updates dialog box opens..
  2. You can also click Updates in the Easy Install dialog box.
  3. A message appears with a progress bar, while Accordance automatically checks for available updates.
  4. When Accordance finishes searching for updates, a list of available upgrades is displayed in the Check for Updates dialog box.
  5. The type of updates listed depends on the active button (Free or Paid).
  6. If necessary, click Cancel in the message to stop the check and switch to Paid, then click Refresh. Available paid upgrades are displayed in the List of Upgrades.
  7. Each update is listed with its file size.
  8. Click a module to view information about it (displayed at the bottom of the Check for Updates dialog box).
  9. Click the link under "Click for details:" to open the web page for that module. If desired, you can also purchase that module from there by adding it to your cart.

Technical NotesTechnical Notes

  • Normally both modules and the Accordance installer are downloaded to and unstuffed in your user folder named:
    Library/Caches/TemporaryItems/AccordanceUpdates/
  • Clicking Install moves the old modules and installs the new ones instead into your user folder named:
    Library/Caches/TemporaryItems/AccordanceOldFiles/
  • If the Accordance folder is on a secondary drive, the modules are downloaded to:
    Accordance Folder/AccordanceUpdates/.
  • Only users with permission to modify the folder named Accordance Folder/Modules can download and install updates.
