Installation for New Users

Notes

  • This topic does not apply if the App Store version is installed on your computer.
  • Installation is not fully completed until the second time you start Accordance (see steps at end of this procedure for details).

These instructions assume you already have an online account with OakTree Software.

  1. Purchase Accordance Version 13. You are advised to create an online account for downloading your software.
  2. Go to downloads and download the Accordance Installer, during installation you will link to your online account (MUST HAVE AN ACCOUNT)
  3. Download the DMG continue....
  4. Double-click the Accordance.dmg file. A DMG window opens for choosing where to install the Accordance software.

  5. In the DMG window, do one of the following:
  6. To install Accordance in the Applications folder, drag the Accordance.app icon into the Applications folder icon.
  7. To install Accordance elsewhere on your computer, drag the Accordance.app icon to the desired location (for example, your user/Applications folder).

    The Accordance.app file appears in the desired location.

  8. Close the DMG window.
  9. Double-click the Accordance.app file to complete installation of Accordance. The Setup Assistant Introduction screen appears.
  10. Click Continue. The Saving Documents screen appears.

    This screen is for information purposes only, regarding where your Accordance documents are saved. When you are ready, click Continue. The Finder opens with the Documents folder selected.

    We recommend that you click Choose (without navigating to another location) to accept the default location for your Accordance files, which is your Documents folder.

    Note

    If you choose to save your Accordance files in a location other than Documents, make sure you remember this location as you may need this information when receiving service and support.

  11. Click Choose to accept the displayed location for your Accordance files. The Accordance Registration screen appears.

    Save account information is selected by default so that Accordance can easily access your account in the future. If desired, you can deselect it.

    In the Accordance Registration screen, proceed as follows:

  12. In the Owner Information area on the left, enter your First Name and Last Name. If desired, you can also enter your Affiliation.
  13. On the right side, enter your Username and Password and click Validate Existing Account.
  14. A green check mark appears if your account is validated (or successfully created).
  15. A red X appears if your account could not be validated. In this case, check that you entered the information correctly. If you continue to have problems, contact us.
  16. If you do not have an account or have forgotten your Username or Password, click on Unable to Login?; you are transferred to the Accordance website where you can create an account or get help accessing your current account.
  17. Once your account has been validated, click Continue. The Accordance Easy Install dialog box appears.

    Press Shift and click a check-box to deselect all items. You can then choose just a few modulesClosed Any Bible text, or other single tool that can be read in Accordance, including reference texts and articles; may also be referred to as content or resource to get started. You can return later and finish installing all purchased items.

  18. When done downloading items, in the Easy Install dialog box, click Continue Setup. Accordance now runs you through some basic setup screens to determine your default settings, as shown below. You can always change these settings via the Preferences dialog box.
  19. Default Resources: Lets you choose your preferred bible Texts, research Tools, and daily Devotional. If the relevant moduleClosed Any Bible text, or other single tool that can be read in Accordance, including reference texts and articles; may also be referred to as content or resource is not installed, that pop-up menu is not available. After selecting the desired default modules, click Continue.

  20. Default Startup: Lets you choose how Accordance starts up the next time you reopen it: in a new Search tabClosed The core tab used to search Bible texts, it consists of a search entry area and a search results area, or with the workspaces you last had open when you quit. Click Continue.

  21. Text Format: Lets you choose whether Bible text appears in verses or in paragraphs. Click Continue.

  22. Syncing: You can link Accordance with a Dropbox account. This is useful for backing up your data, as well as for sharing User content between other devices you may own. Click Link to Dropbox Account and follow the on-screen instructions. When ready, click Continue. The Summary screen appears.

  23. From the Summary screen you can back up and double-check your settings, or just finish the setup. When ready, click Done. Accordance Bible Software is now open and ready to use.

The Next Time You Open Accordance

The next time you open Accordance Bible Software (after initial installation), a message box opens, asking how you would like to update the application software in the future. Proceed as follows:

  1. To have Accordance automatically check for and install application updates, click Check Automatically.
  2. If you want to review all updates yourself, and possibly skip some, click Don't Check.
  3. To provide OakTree Software with anonymous system profile information, check Include anonymous system profile. You can view the information that is submitted by clicking the gray arrow.
