Preferences: Appearance

Prerequisites for use: None; this dialog box can be opened at any time.       

Use: Appearance preferences affects the display of different parts of the Accordance interface.

Open: Click Appearance in the list of the Preferences dialog box. The Appearance settings area is displayed.

The Appearance Preferences affect the appearance of many windows.

Options in the Appearance Area of the Preferences Dialog Box

Theme Setting Area: Options in this area affect the appearance of the Accordance Interface.

• General Theme: Themes apply specific color palettes to the Toolbar and interface elements. Themes include Azure, Canyon, Classic, Grayscale, Lime, Spanish Moss, Tuscany, and Dark.
• When one of these themes is selected, a Previewbutton applies the theme as a preview without the need to restart Accordance. Click OK to close the Preferences dialog box and apply the theme, or Cancel to close the Preferences dialog box without applying the theme. Note:

Text Appearance Area: Options in this area affect the appearance of content in the panes.

• Limit Text Width: If selected (default setting), the slider bar is active The application, window, tab, or other screen element which is currently being used; sometimes called the "front" or "frontmost" screen element and you can move it to set the maximum width of text (content in all modules Any Bible text, or other single tool that can be read in Accordance, including reference texts and articles; may also be referred to as content or resource) in each pane. This option does not affect pane width, only the maximum width of text. The selected width is shown after the word "Width."
• in. or cm.: Units of measure may be inches (in.) or centimeters (cm.).
• Slider bar: Drag the bar to the desired width. You can have any value between 2 and 10 inches or centimeters.
• Use European verse notation: Select this option to use a comma (,) in place of a colon (:) to divide chapter and verse, and a period (.) in place of a comma to separate a list of references. Applies to new text panes only.
• Use SBL standard abbreviations: When selected, displays and exports book abbreviations in Bible text using the SBL recommendations, for example 2 Sam. 1:1 becomes 2 Sam 1:1. This option does not affect notation for entering verse references in Accordance. Applies to new text panes only.

Quick Entry Area: Options relate to the Quick Entry pop-up menu in the Search Entry box.

• Quick Entry Font Size pop-up menu: Used to select the font size for the suggestions displayed in the Quick Entry pop-up menu.
• Disable Quick Entry: Select this item if you do not want automatic suggestions to appear in a pop-up menu in the Search Entry box .

Other Area: Options in this area affect various global settings.

• Interface Language:Used to set the Accordance interface language localization. Every part of the Accordance interface is displayed in the selected language. Available Interface language options are German, English, Spanish, French, Portuguese and Chinese–Simplified. This setting overrides your system-wide language localization settings.

  Note The help documentation is in English, regardless of the Interface Language settings.

• Table of Contents, Library Font Size: Used to select the font size in the Table of Contents pane for tools and User Tools, the Research tab, and the Library.
• Auto-scrolling: Sets the speed at which text scrolls automatically with a Ctrl+Click on the scroll arrows, or when choosing Auto-Scroll from the Pane bar Action menu (). You can select Very Slow, Slow, Medium, Fast, or Very Fast.
• Default Paper Zoom: Sets the zoom level for opening of new and existing Paper tabs.
• Use white background for pictures: If selected, removes the black border around small pictures in the picture Display tab.
• Use Simple picture frame: If selected, removes the border around picture thumbnails.
• Suppress tool browser auto-sizing: If selected, suppresses automatic resizing of the tools browser.

• Disable interface scaling relative to screen resolution: If not selected, the Accordance interface is scaled to match the rest of the Windows and DPI options set globally on your computer. If checked, the display of Accordance may be smaller. Check this item if the display of the Accordance interface seems oversized.

  Note This item appears only if a very high resolution screen is detected.

• Organize all Tools by Category: Click this button to have all Tool modules automatically organized in the Library according to pre-assigned categories with associated icons . You can move Tools between any of these categories. They can always be reorganized again should you decide you prefer the default category assignments.

  Any existing folders and dividers are deleted when the Tools are automatically organized. If you still want those folders, you can add them again, as desired.
